The 3rd  International Education with Sustainability Conference (EwS 2022) will be held at the Atlantic Technological University, Sligo, Ireland on the 15th, 16th and 17th of August 2022.

The event is organised by the Technological University Green Campus Programme, The Dept. of Environmental Science at Atlantic Technological Univeristy Sligo, Mid Sweden University and the Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland (ESAI).

EwS 2022 is the third in a series of international interdisciplinary conferences that focus on the challenges facing all aspects of education, teaching for a sustainable future.

The event builds on the previous programmes (held at ATU Sligo previously IT Sligo and Mid Sweden University), addressing not only the challenges but also the opportunities for educators with the growing realisation in all aspects of society that we must weave sustainability throughout the teaching curriculum.

EwS 2022 will once again draw together national and international educators in focused paper sessions with thought provoking keynote speakers and opportunities for academic staff and researchers to participate in training workshops.

This year our keynotes will be from Sweden and Belgium.

Professor Magdalena Svantöm

Professor of Sustainability Studies, Chalmers University of Technology,
Gothenburg, Sweden

Prof Svantöm research focuses on the development and application of methodology for environmental and sustainability assessment for products and processes, mostly life cycle assessment, and often with the purpose of providing guidance in early stages of development.

Mr. Koen Vervoort

Network Builder at ENoLL, the European Network of Living Labs,
Brussels, Belgium

Mr. Vervoort works with international and large panels of users & community based stakeholders to improve the way of interacting, supporting & cooperating within complex ecosystems to develop open collaborative innovation in real life community settings.

The European Network of Living Labs is the international, non-profit, independent association of benchmarked Living Labs. 

EwS is currently accepting submissions for papers and posters on the following themes;

Teaching for future generations – Multidisciplinary projects in sustainable development

The pedagogy of sustainability in higher education, the international perspective

Systems Learning and Sustainability – how to go beyond problems

Education and outreach with communities – culture and conflict resolution

Effective communication – The sustainable conversation!

Education beyond colleges – What higher education can learn from communities

Beyond linear education – How to overcome the challenge of teaching sustainability concepts

Conference Registration

Registration and the call for oral and poster presentations is now open online for all delegates. The closing date for abstract submission has been extended until 17th of June 2022.  To ensure a high standard of submission, all abstracts will be peer-reviewed by an expert academic committee.

The registration fees for EwS 2022 are as follows with a 20% discount for all ESAI members:
